Goal of a PMDD Companion?

My goal is to support you and encourage healthier behaviors during your 1-2 week PMDD ‘hell’ times.  To work with you, putting into action necessary tools & techniques to live happier and healthier, even with your PMDD.  Work through problems as they occur so that you can learn to do it on your own, not depend on others.

Self-Sufficiency, Self-Advocacy, Self-Awareness, Self Control are important aspects of a healthy life.

Why would I need a PMDD Companion?

You have ruined relationships with your spouse, friends, or children and you need help learning new techniques to deal during your 1-2 week PMDD ‘hell’ time.

You need someone who has PMDD and understands PMDD to be able to talk to during your 1-2 week PMDD time.  This offers you a healthier place to vent or cry rather than to your spouse or children causing more harm to those relationships.

You just need a friend to lean on that lives with PMDD, someone who doesn’t question this disorder.

What exactly will a PMDD Companion do for me?

Emergency Phone Call Availability: You will be able to reach me via telephone in case you are having a PMDD Emergency- Days and Times Vary by Package (See Below)

Phone calls per week FROM me to you: I will call and check on your progress, find out about any stressors that may be coming up during that particular week.

Emails per week From me to you: I will email you to check on your progress, discuss stressors, schedules, past conversations & any other pertinent information.

Emails From You to Me: You may email me questions, concerns, rants as often as necessary.

How long do I keep a PMDD Companion?

As long as you need, but the point of a PMDD Companion is to offer you tools, not a crutch.  You will receive support and friendship, but also learn new ways to live healthier and happier with your PMDD, on your own. I will be available as I mentioned before, however, I personally believe that the point of ‘learning’ is so that you can do it on your own, not depend on someone forever.

I will not baby you, but push you and encourage you to become aware of your own actions, and those of your surroundings (husband, children, friends, family).

I live with PMDD and have since I was a teen, I will not accept “I can’t” as an option!  I am your friend and a true friend knows your limits and knows that you deserve the quality of life that you desire.  You must want the best for yourself in order to get the best outcome for your family.

What a PMDD Companion is NOT?

I am not a doctor, counselor, or a psychologist nor do I claim to be.  I will not offer counseling services or medical advice.  Please consult your physician for this sort of information, or before changing any sort of health regimen.

I do live with PMDD and have since I was a teen.  I personally know what it is like to raise 4 children, take care of a household, maintain relationships with my husband, family and friends.  While life with PMDD has its obstacles, we do have a happy household without PMDD sadness and anger causing mahem every month.

I can help you learn how to do the same, you deserve it!

Hello Stef, I just read your posts. I’m still learning how to navigate around the site. Today I am very scared. I finally found a doctor that heard me and I have an appointment for surgery. Suddenly it hit me. Will I be opening up another can of worms by going into surgical menopause at 38 y.o.
Can you tell me how you feel. One of my biggest fears is getting migraine headaches. This is because I suddenly started getting migraines while I was on Lupron (injection for medical menopause) and couldn’t get the hormone replacement right.
Could you tell me how you feel and was it the better choice for you.
    Thank you, Nadine.

    Nadine,
I will be having the surgery in Feb or March, still trying to figure out the exact date. I will keep everyone posted on my progress. I am 36 so it’s scary for me too, however, the doctors have explained to me it’s easier to find the right replacements than it is to try and balance what we are lacking.

    I’m nervous but so excited!
