Anonymous Polls: Please Participate

Hi everyone!

I know it’s still very difficult for a lot of you to post openly, so I think to get the best (and most) of this question, I am going to use polls for a few things.

Please, Please…participate.  The polls are anonymous, please do me a favor and only vote once in each poll so that I can get an accurate count.

If you do wish to comment in more detail, please feel free to comment here, it is definitely still wanted and very helpful if you have ideas or thoughts to add to it.

I did want to add that I am still here, checking emails constantly, replying constantly (a lot of emails come privately because PMDD still has such a stigma), and I am asking for info in polls because I am working diligently on things for Men (which I have been promising for a while now, I know), and am looking into the possibility of making my dreams come true with the help of a couple other Women: starting PMDD retreats.  I thought this would be something that had to wait for years to come, but it may not.

So, I am really busy still working on PMDD, I promise. :)  Your answers help speed things along, I go off of your answers and answers I receive via emails and other forums and places I have to search.

Thanks guys for hanging in here and participating to make everyone with PMDD happier and healthier!

I have been suffering from PMDD for 12 years. I have taken Sarafem for the past 2 years with relief of symptoms until recently. I also have gained 40 pounds in those 2 years, that I attribute to the medication. I am looking to relief or reduce greatly my symptoms without the need for the prescribed medications. I would love to lose the 40 pounds that Sarafem has added to my small frame.

Hi Carie,
Uggg… I had that same problem with Paxil. Luckily with Prozac (Sarafem) I don’t have this problem. Like I said though, I did with a diff med so I know what you are going thru. It sucks and just adds to the PMDD, makes you feel like, Oh just one more thing!

I need a bit more info on what you are doing right now, in addition to the Sarafem. How much exercise? What your diet consists of? Vitamins? How many hrs of sleep you get per night? Any other info you feel comfortable providing me, email or here.

Hey! I think it would be very helpful for many PMS sufferers if there was an Experts Forum on PMDD which would include not only conventional Doctors(Gynecologist, Endocrinologist), Naturophatic Doctors, Nutritionists, Functional Health Practitioners but also Integrative Medical Doctors and other scientists and researchers. I would love to see all their approaches in one site. It would be so great to have them answering questions periodically. And even debating! Sounds like too difficult? May be…

May be the women in here that have been successful or feel that they are in the right track could ask their doctors to participate in the experts forum. I actually thought of asking my own Doctor, he writes very often for a magazine and he is very interested in educating doctors and patients.

Well that is just my idea!

Hi Ara!
That is an awesome idea! Thanks for posting. I will start looking into it ASAP. Not too difficult at all, may take some time, but anything with PMDD does. :)
I will add the link to the forum immediately and will start making up a form, if you will, for other Women to use if they need help talking with their doctors about the idea.

Keep the ideas coming!

Hi,

This is the first time I have been to your site, and it has been very helpful. I have been taking supplements and herbal support tablets from a womens site. I have noticed some relief, but am still frustrated. I am unable to take antideppressants and hormones due to sensitivities and adverse reactions. I was thinking about trying St. Johns Wart. Do you have any experience with it or any pointers on how to take it? This condition is affecting everything in my life, although I feel really good at this time, I know in another week the rollercoaster will start all over again. Will a hysterectomy stop the hormonal shifts or cause other problems? Please help.

Hi Tanya,
I’m so glad you found your way over here. I have tried St. Johns Wart, but it just didn’t do the trick. One thing I can tell you is that if you are on BCP, it can counter them, so if you don’t want to get PG, watch out for that. :)
As far as pointers on how to take it, I would run up to your nearest pharmacist. I find indiv pharmacies (family owned type) take the time to answer questions and if you have Target pharmacy or CVS or Walgreens, they seem to be able to take a little time and talk too. They usually know about St. Johns since it’s pretty popular. I’m sorry you are dealing with the rollercoaster ride, I know it all too well.
I am talking to my doc right now about a hysterectomy, however, I am still learning this too. Jenn who is now posting can answer those questions better for you than me.
Of course I can tell you, a hysterectomy can open up a whole new set of problems. Any surgery or procedure dealing with your hormones, it’s another game of chance on getting everything just right.
I did want to add…if you are sensitive to the others I would keep a close eye on the supplements too. Also, just keep in mind…just because it’s offered at a Womens site doesn’t mean anything, just do your own research too, or ask us to help.

(I do not know which site she was getting supplements from… I am just stating a general fact). It’s no different than visiting a PMDD site and all it talks about is what’s already known like the symptoms, etc… but then it tells you to use Yaz.
Yes, I know Yaz has worked for a few of you, but for the most part, the number of Women I hear from it makes them worse.
Just do your research or ask for help. :)

Jenn, can you holler out about a hysterectomy and new issues possible?

Maybe I misunderstood the questions so I am not sure if you really can count my answer to Poll #3. There wasn’t an option to select, Would participate and my boyfriend/girlfriend “would” attend. That is what I would have selected so I selected the next closest option. Another option would I would attend, but solo.
