Thanks for putting together the book Stef! And hats off to all the women who took part!

It seems most women in the book are taking meds full time? Only one I noticed specified that she only takes meds premenstrually, which is what I did.

I wonder if Doctors are neglecting to mention that taking anti-depressants full time is not necessary for PMDD? Provided there are no other depressive symptoms outside of the premenstrual phase of course. It worries me that women could be medicated full time unnecessarily.

Hey Skully!
Sorry I’m so behind on replies.

I agree with you 100% on medication being taken only as needed. I used to take Sarafem only during my 2 wk time. Unfortunatly, it didn’t work as well for me which sucked, but I dealt with it. I switched back to taking Prozac full time.

I do know of a lot of Women that only take their meds during their 1-2 week time of PMDD before their periods.

When I did the book I had hoped that more Women would feel comfortable coming out and sharing so that we could get a whole range of ideas, symptoms, meds, vitamins, etc…

It’s so tough for Women right now, I can only hope it helps with us talking here. I think we got a great range of ideas and symptoms, but like you said, yes a lot of Women do take it f/t that sent in and volunteered.

For any of you out there, make sure that you do ask your doc about only taking meds during your 1-2 wk time. They don’t know why, but for Women with PMDD, SSRI’s and such kick in fast for us so this works for a lot of us. It’s different with depression and it takes more time for the meds to take affect.

Thanks again!
Stef
