Accountability Video
A couple of nights ago Jennifer and I were talking on the phone about the courses we will be offering very soon. She brought up an incredible subject: Accountability. Staying accountable to yourself even with your disorder, whether it be PMDD or any chronic disorder.
I thought this video would explain it a bit better than me just posting.
Unfortunately, I did not put on my little mic when I recorded it and it’s much easier to hear it very clearly if you put on headphones. It’s very quiet, but when you put on headphones you can hear it great! Next video I promise to do it right. :)

Well Stef, I just want to say this was a very brave video post. It is such a delicate balance between working hard to do your best and also knowing that the illness is real and a significant challenge. If we go too far in the direction of “fight” we are ignoring a very real condition that requires some adjustment to daily routine… too far into “illness mode” can equal reduced quality of life and loss.
For me and my husband, there came a day where we just couldn’t continue acting as if the illness didn’t exist, meaning during the worst two weeks we could no longer continue to do everything the same way we did during the good weeks. I could no longer act as if everything was normal & I could behave as usual. BUT, we couldn’t continue waiting for a cure either. It was my life, and I decided to do whatever I could to make sure PMDD didn’t spread into places it didn’t need to be while at the same time, being very very honest with myself about what I could expect while ill. Taking control where I could helped a great deal, during the worst weeks and after. It was empowering & it was helpful. I adjusted my expectations, checking myself to make sure I wasn’t expecting too much OR too little. I came up with a plan of action during the good weeks and made changes as needed. The two worst weeks were still horrible, but when I took control where I could, they were better, and better during PMDD is worth A LOT.
